Is this a free Adobe Illustrator alternative?
Yes. It is a free, browser-based vector editor with an Illustrator-style Pen tool, Shape Builder, Pathfinder, Blend, layers, artboards and free transform, using the same keyboard shortcuts. No signup, no watermark, nothing to install. It is not affiliated with Adobe.
Does the Pen tool work like Illustrator's?
Yes. Click for corner points and click-drag for smooth curves; Shift snaps to 45°, Alt breaks a handle, and holding Space while dragging moves the point. Click the last point to make it a corner, click the first point to close the path (drag to shape the closing curve), click the end of an open path to keep drawing it, and hover a selected path to add or delete points. The cursor shows what each click will do, and Ctrl/Cmd+Z removes the last point while you draw.
Can I pan and zoom like in Illustrator?
Yes. Use the Hand tool (H) or hold Space with any tool to pan, and the Zoom tool (Z) to click-zoom or drag a box to zoom into. Ctrl/Cmd + and −, Ctrl/Cmd+0 (fit artboard), Ctrl/Cmd+1 (100%), Alt or Ctrl + scroll, trackpad pinch and two-finger touch all work, from 3% up to 6400%.
Does it use the same keyboard shortcuts as Illustrator?
The main ones, yes: V Selection, A Direct Selection, P Pen, Shift+C Anchor Point, M Rectangle, L Ellipse, \ Line, T Type, W Blend, Shift+M Shape Builder, H Hand, Z Zoom, plus Ctrl/Cmd+Z, Ctrl/Cmd+A and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+[ and ] to arrange. Use Cmd and Option on a Mac.
Can I import an Adobe Illustrator (.ai) file?
Yes. Drop in a .ai file saved with Illustrator's default "Create PDF Compatible File" option and its vector shapes, colours and artboards come in as real, editable paths, right in your browser. Live text and embedded images inside the .ai file are not converted yet.
Can I import an SVG or image file?
Yes. Import an SVG and each shape comes in as its own editable, recolourable path, not a flattened picture. PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP come in as placed images. You can also paste straight from your clipboard.
Does it have a Shape Builder or Pathfinder tool?
Yes. Drag across overlapping shapes with the Shape Builder to merge regions (hold Alt to erase), or use the Pathfinder panel for Union, Subtract, Intersect and Exclude.
Does it have a Blend tool?
Yes. Pick the Blend tool, click one shape and then another to get a live series of in-between shapes with blended colour, spaced by steps, distance or smooth colour. Bend the blend along a path, or expand it into separate editable shapes.
Can I add or delete anchor points on a path?
Yes. Hover a selected path with the Pen tool to add or delete points, or use the Anchor Point tool (Shift+C) to add, delete, and drag a point to switch it between a corner and a smooth curve.
Can I add a realistic drop shadow?
Yes. The Shadow panel casts a perspective contact shadow, not a flat offset copy: dark and sharp at the base, softening as it stretches away. Drag the light dot on the canvas or set the angle, elevation, length, blur, spread, opacity and colour.
Is my work saved if I close the tab?
Yes. Your drawing saves itself in your browser as you work and reopens automatically next time — nothing is uploaded. Starting a new drawing can be undone. To keep a copy elsewhere, export it as SVG or PNG.
Can I group, align and copy objects like in Illustrator?
Yes. Ctrl/Cmd+G groups (double-click a group to edit inside it), the Align panel aligns and distributes to the selection or artboard, and copy, paste, paste in place and Ctrl/Cmd+D duplicate (with step and repeat) all work, plus a right-click menu. You can type exact X, Y, width, height and angle, flip, and add dashed strokes.
Does it have a pencil, brush, eraser and knife?
Yes. Pencil (N) and Paintbrush (B) turn freehand strokes into smooth editable curves, the Blob Brush (Shift+B) paints filled shapes that merge, the Eraser (Shift+E) rubs out parts of shapes, Scissors (C) split paths and the Knife cuts shapes in two.
Can I make clipping masks, trace images and outline text?
Yes. Ctrl/Cmd+7 makes a clipping mask and Ctrl/Cmd+8 a compound path. Offset Path, Outline Stroke, Simplify and Recolor Artwork are in the Object panel. Image Trace turns a placed PNG or JPG into editable colour shapes, and Create Outlines turns text into shapes using the real font. Text can also run along a path.
What can I export?
A real, editable SVG file, or a PNG with a transparent background, for the whole document or a single artboard.
Is my work uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is drawn and saved directly in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
