AI to SVG Converter — No Illustrator Needed
Open an Adobe Illustrator .ai file without Illustrator and save it as SVG. Every shape comes in as an editable vector path with its colours, each artboard stays separate, and you can tweak anything before exporting. PDFs work too. Free, no signup, and the file never leaves your browser.
How to convert AI to SVG
Any Illustrator file saved with “Create PDF Compatible File” on — Illustrator’s default — or a PDF.
The free Vector Editor reads every shape, colour and artboard. Recolour, delete or move anything if you need to.
The Export window opens automatically — choose SVG (or PNG) and download. Export one artboard or the whole file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an AI file to SVG without Illustrator?
Drop the .ai file above. It opens in SketchValley’s free Vector Editor with every shape as an editable path, and the Export window opens straight away — choose SVG and download. Nothing to install and no Adobe account needed.
Which .ai files can be converted?
Files saved with Illustrator’s default “Create PDF Compatible File” option, which is almost all of them. Older files saved with that option turned off contain no PDF layer — re-save them from Illustrator with it on.
Is everything in the AI file converted?
Vector shapes, fills, strokes and colours come across as editable paths, and each artboard becomes its own artboard. Live text and embedded raster images inside the .ai file are not converted yet.
Can I convert PDF to SVG too?
Yes. Drop a PDF and its vector artwork is converted the same way — each page becomes an artboard you can export as SVG.
What about EPS files?
EPS is a different format (PostScript) that isn’t supported here. If you have Illustrator or another app, save the EPS as PDF first, then convert the PDF.
Can I edit the artwork before exporting?
Yes. Everything opens in the free Vector Editor, so you can recolour, delete or move shapes, add text, and then export SVG or PNG.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser and never sent to a server.
